~ The Inspiration ~
This is Jericho. He was found in August 2011 on the streets of Baltimore by Animal Control. He had 4th degree burns on his back and it was clear someone had set him on fire.
He was 9 months old – a puppy.
They allowed a wonderful rescue called Jasmine's House (named after one of Michael Vick's pit bulls) to pull him and an even more awesome lady named Bridget fostered him for two months... until his new family found him thanks to Petfinder.com. Many wonderful people helped him along the way and to them we will always be grateful ♥
The vet said even though he had been burned, he was calm, nice and a sweet non aggressive pup... (and they call Pitbulls mean...find someone else who was abused like him and still pleasant and gentle).
Jericho is a little over a year old now and his burns are mostly healed but he has very thin delicate skin and no fur where the scars are. We think he is beautiful and unique and seems almost unaffected by the abuse he endured.
Since being adopted, Jericho's been enrolled in training classes. He is almost ready for his Canine Good Citizenship Certification and Temperament Test. We are hoping to see him eventually be a therapy dog for burn victims.
We think the best way to show the world how great this breed can be is to SHOW them how successful a dog like Jericho can be!! Jericho is a Pit Bull Ambassador, showing people everywhere how amazing the unexpected breed is!
